After the start 1988 and the debut-EP “Let’s Go Surfin” 1989, Sonic Surf City from Norrköping, Sweden is by many referred to as pioneers in the surfpoppunk-genre mixing vocal surf-harmonies in style with the Beach Boys with old school punk such as The Undertones and, of course, the Ramones. Sonic Surf City refined their formula during the 90’s and became an institution at Scandinavian summer festivals, and released two albums at Stockholm/Polygram/Universal generating cult-hits as ”Sha Na Na Na Na”, ”Let’s Make Love”, and “Drivin In My SAAB” making a mark also internationally. 1997 the band took a break, but reunited 2008 after independent releases of “Greatest Hits”-compilations in Japan and Southern Europe where the band had continued to do well despite the absence.

The band has toured regularily since 2009 in Scandinavia, Europe (Spain, Germany, Netherlands) and in 2014 and 2017 the band performed all over Japan with great success. As the pandemic fades out, shows and tours in Scandinavia, Europe, and Japan are now planned for 2022-23. And this is largely to promote the new production “Victory at Sea”, probably Sonic Surf City’s definitive album, released by Mottow Soundz.

Sonic Surf City is Ola “Woodie” Hermanson, Stefan Andersson, Johan Söderhielm, and Calle Larsson, and the extended family includes Evelina Eliasson as well as Sara and Peter “PP” Samuelsson, who is also the producer of the album.
